The Transnational Meeting on Sustainable Communities was implemented in Bologna from the 19th till the 22nd of November, 2024.
This event brought together 4 expert trainers and representatives from partner NGOs to kick-start the development of our innovative e-learning platform focused on orienteering young people on green emerging jobs based on sustainability and green skills.
Raising Awareness on Sustainability
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to deepening participants’ understanding of critical sustainability topics:
- The urgency of climate change and its impact on ecosystems.
- Pillars of Sustainability: Environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions.
- The concept of overshoot day and the role of citizens versus consumers in promoting sustainability.
- The complexity of sustainability challenges and the importance of a systemic approach.
- Strategies for ecological transition, including linear, recycling, and circular economies.
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework for action.
This segment emphasized why immediate action is needed and laid the groundwork for the second phase of the meeting.
Developing the E-Learning Platform
The second part of the meeting focused on the design and development of the e-learning platform:
- Participants were introduced to the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) to guide the platform’s creation.
- Discussions centered on defining the target group, aligning methodologies, and structuring the modules effectively.
- Each expert, collaborating with their NGO, drafted initial program outlines and presented them for feedback and refinement.
Outcomes and Next Steps
Key outcomes of the meeting included:
- Common awareness and framework on the climate actions and fair transition to support.
- A shared understanding of the tasks, deadlines, and project management system for the platform’s development.
- Initial drafts for the e-learning modules, which will now move into the development phase.
This meeting was a significant milestone in our mission to provide youth educators and young people with meaningful tools and knowledge to navigate emerging green careers and contribute to a sustainable future.
Stay tuned as we continue to develop and implement this innovative platform!
