From October 6th to 11th, 2025, Bologna hosted the Learning Activity of the Erasmus+ project “Green Youth Employability (GYE) – Emerging Skills and Jobs for a Fair and Green Society”: an initiative aimed at strengthening youth employability in the context of the ecological transition.

Conceived and coordinated by the hosting partner Scambieuropei, the mobility involved young Europeans from Italy, Spain, Slovenia, and Slovakia, offering them a training pathway based on non-formal education, intercultural collaboration, and practical learning.

A European Pathway for Skills and Sustainability

The Learning Activity represented a key stage in a broader journey designed to provide young people with concrete tools to understand and address the challenges of the “green” labor market.
Green Youth Employability aims to promote an integrated training model among organizations from different European countries, where non-formal education, innovation, and sustainability intertwine to create new opportunities in the youth sector.

Through workshops, group discussions, and shared experiences, participants deepened their understanding of climate crisis, environmental equity, and sustainable behaviors, linking their personal experiences to the values of social justice and care for the planet.

The activities fostered the development of transversal skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, as well as the ability to interpret new labor market needs through a sustainability lens.

From Awareness to Green Employability

The training path combined moments of individual reflection with practical workshops focused on employability in the emerging green jobs sector, the discovery of new skills, and the enhancement of individual talents.

Introspective exercises, such as the search for one’s ikigai, and discussions on climate fairness encouraged awareness and responsibility towards the environment and society.

Mock interviews, group activities, and personal branding sessions provided participants with concrete tools to navigate the labor market and build professional profiles aligned with sustainability principles.

Results and Future Perspectives

The Learning Activity produced a rich framework of skills and awareness: enhanced communication abilities, critical thinking, environmental sensitivity, and a clearer vision of opportunities related to green jobs.

The week also provided the opportunity to present the project’s e-learning platform, which in the coming months will be implemented and tested as a tool for continuous training—facilitating open access to educational materials and the exchange of best practices among partners and participants.

The pathway concluded with the awarding of the Youthpass, formally recognizing the competences acquired and enhancing their value in education and employment paths.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, the project will focus on finalizing the training materials, testing the online platform, and developing new dissemination and networking activities.

The goal is to continue fostering the development of emerging skills in the field of sustainability and to support young people as key actors in building a greener, fairer, and more resilient society.
